| Annual Village Skittles Match |

| As someone
said: "You can't take it too seriously"! He was talking about the annual
village skittles match which took place on Saturday, 12th October, which is
always a light-hearted family event at the Village Hall. This year's winning team, The Abbotts Ann Players, were 'adjudged' (see photo) to have won from last year's winners, The Fugwits. However, The Fugwits, who had the most points at the end of the rounds, lost by one point on the play-off with the Players - and "they was robbed". The Church team, who got the highest group score, was not 'triumphant' this time despite setting out with right on their side and determined seriousness. Their excuses were, obviously they were not praying hard enough in between rounds., and "Methuselah" was not available this time to play, or they would have won. Our thanks to Mike Penny and his assistants who ably 'ran' the skittles, and nobly bore the cries of anguish and charges of "we were robbed", and to the Committee members who saw to it that tasty hot dogs with all the trimmings kept hunger at bay, and that the lager, beer and wine refreshed where fruit juice did not reach. |
